Contestants for the Artiste Development Boot Camp. Facilitated by local talent, Ms. Sharon Phillips, the boot camp commenced on Monday 16th October and ends today, Thursday 19th October 2023
Tuesday 17th October, Scarborough, Tobago: This year for the the first time ever the Tobago Soca Titans Competition is set to take place. The finals of the competition will be held on Wednesday 25th October 2023, from 8:00 pm, at the Scarborough Esplanade, home of the Festival Grounds, which is a new addition to this year’s carnival experience and opens on October 23rd, 2023.
Ten contestants are currently participating in an Artiste Development Boot Camp, as part of their preparation for the finals. Facilitated by local talent, Ms. Sharon Phillips, the boot camp commenced on Monday 16th October and ends today, Thursday 19th October 2023. The sessions are separated into three different time slots throughout the day to facilitate attendance by all artistes and each day the artistes are exposed to varied techniques towards the development of their craft. The objectives of the four-day training program are to prepare the artistes for the finals of the competition and to further hone their skills as they continue in the entertainment industry.
Some of the areas of focus for the boot camp include vocal assessment, pitch and rhythm, voice (quality and tone), diction, clarity and projection and stage presentation.
This year’s finalists include Kulture B, Jumane ‘Juby’ Cox, Omari ‘Trip’ Orr, Gerard Balfour and Caston Cupid, Bernardo “Tam Tam’ Thompson, Jhevon “Royal’ Jackson, Lyndon “D’ Dapper’ Patterson, Anderson Mc Phee, Jeffrey ‘Prince Unique’ Thomas and Andre ‘Num Num’ Isaac.
